ABOUT EXPRESSIONS
blue sky inn has maintained the blue sky eXpressions program since August 2003. Operating at two residential youth shelters and one community center, eXpressions connects an average of ten volunteers with 25 youth each week. eXpressions projects have included collage, painting, drawing, creative writing, photography, jewelry-making, bookmaking, printmaking, and origami.
Through this program, youth are given opportunities:
- To create relationships with caring, compassionate adults in their community
- To express themselves creatively in a safe environment
- To visit and contribute to cultural performances and exhibits
- To participate in positive, engaging activities
By participating in these sessions, volunteers are given opportunities:
- To educate themselves and others about the homeless youth population in Chicago
- To use their art, experiences and example to encourage and inspire the youth
- To make an important contribution to their community
