VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes. We request that volunteers make an eight-week commitment to their assigned program, as it takes time to develop meaningful relationships with the youth. Most volunteers choose to continue their commitment longer than eight weeks.
EXPRESSIONS MEETING TIMES
- The 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 3:00 pm (Lakeview)
- The 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 3:30 pm (Bridgeport)
- Every Thursday evening at 7:00 pm (West Town/Wicker Park)
- Every Thursday evening at 7:45 pm (Lakeview)
VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS
- Download, complete and return the Volunteer Application (PDF).
- When we have received your Volunteer Application, we will inform you (usually via email) if we do NOT have any openings in a program that corresponds with your availability. If we have an opening that matches your schedule, we will conduct a criminal background screening.
- When we have completed the screening process, we will contact you to confirm your availability and schedule a brief orientation with a blue sky inn staff member. The orientation typically takes place immediately prior to your first volunteer session. You will also receive an orientation packet in the mail, including information related to youth homelessness, working with LGBT youth, and creating a safe space for youth.
